This week I went to see the Durham Bulls play at their original stadium, Durham Athletic Park (DAP). The Bulls played at DAP from 1926 until 1994, and it's where most of Bull Durham was filmed. If you haven't seen that movie, stop reading this now and go rent it. It is a great '80's flick starring Kevin Costner and Susan Sarandon. Anyways, in 1995 the Bulls upgraded to a brand new stadium designed by the same architects that built Camden Yards in Baltimore. The new stadium is knows as DBAP. While DBAP is really great, DAP is ranked #35 in the Top Sports Venues of All Time by ESPN. The Bulls play one game each season at the old stadium and I was lucky to be invited by my coworker Dean. The park is magical! It's intimate and feels like baseball the way baseball was meant to be. There's no such thing as a bad seat at DAP, but believe it or not, this picture was from the nosebleed section - not bad eh?
So the game was Monday night and then Tuesday night I organized a Boozy Craft Night with my girlfriends. We all bought a Living Social voucher for a new DIY craft store in town. They host BYOB nights and we organized our own private BYOB crafting party. We decoupaged, glue gunned, painted, drank wine and laughed a lot! It was a blast! I made a decorative bird house:
The rest of the week has been devoted mostly to work, but I did find time to bake a banana bread and clip some coupons. Have you seen that new show about Extreme Couponing? Yes, I know, those people are a little crazy, but I can't imagine the thrill of getting groceries for virtually free. So, I'm contemplating becoming an Extreme Couponer this summer while Cameron is away for his internship. More on that in a future post.
