Pressure to Blog

Okay, so I'm feeling some pressure about not blogging often enough and that pressure just leads to writers block and bad blog posts. It makes me recall what a famous author once wrote on her blog. When her half-written book showed up on the internet (pre-publication), she stopped writing that book altogether. Her audience was upset about it, and they let her know as much. Her response was that no one would like the book if she were to finish it in her current state of mind. She would kill the main characters, the villain would win and the book would stink. Writing blogs isn't exactly the same thing, but I definitely don't write as well when I'm forcing myself to sit down and write. I know, I know, this is just a blog. I'll stop throwing a fit and just write already...

Without further adieu, and in order to break through my writer's block, here's a quick post about Thanksgiving. It was WONDERFUL! I love spending time at my uncles' house and it had been so long since I was able to do so with my parents. We enjoyed spending time together, eating, drinking, and eating some more. I spent my fair share of time in the kitchen and loved every minute of it. My uncle shared a pie crust recipe that was to die for and my dad brought us homemade jam and honey from home. We had an amazing Thanksgiving dinner that included a very gourmet, very large turkey:

Dinner concluded with an array of pies, and the pumpkin was even better than the first time I made it. Thanks, in large part, to the new crust recipe. Click here for the Vodka Pie Crust recipe. I swear, it's amazing, and so forgiving!

Cameron and I got our parents together on Friday for lunch and all went well. I think we were all a little relieved to have that first meeting behind us. Summer vacation in Maine everyone? Friday night Cameron and I stopped by his ten year high school reunion. It was fun to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones too. Saturday morning we got together with Brad and Sara, friends from New York City. They are expecting their first child in February and it was the first time I had seen them in person since hearing the news. It was so fun to chat with them and see how much has changed in the five months since we've been gone.

We had a very smooth drive back on Saturday afternoon and hit a milestone with the new car:

We got it with just over 4,000 miles on it, but wow, 10,000 came quick! I'm feeling a little guilty that I haven't named her yet. Yes, it's a she. If anyone has name suggestions I'd love to hear 'em!

So that's the weekend/Thanksgiving recap and now I'm really excited about my next blog which will cover how excited I am about Christmas. It's my favorite holiday, and this year we FINALLY get to have a real Christmas tree!
