These days it seems that there is so much on my to-do list. Some of the items are very reasonable and if I dedicated an hour or two of my time, they would practically cross themselves off. Other items on the list are more serious and require not only more time, but more energy.
Blogging is one of the items on my list that haunts me. I really enjoy sitting down and seeing the black text fill my white screen, but I also dread choosing a topic to write about, fear that my blog is boring and no one cares what I have to say, and ultimately it ends up feeling like a chore. Not a cleaning the bathroom style chore, but the kind of chore that looms over your head, like organizing closets. The problem is that the longer I go without checking it off the to-do list, the more guilty I feel, and the more pressure I feel to make my next blog post, really really exciting and great. I can't promise that this post is exciting and great, but I needed to break the blog silence, so hang in there, better blog posts are coming...
After all, 2012 is a big year for Cameron and I. We are both turning 30, Cameron is graduating with his MBA, we are moving to Chicago, and we're getting married. It's all very exciting stuff, well besides the turning 30 part, I'd like to skip over that. Durham has been a wonderful place to call home for the past year and half. I'm going to miss the food, farms, and weather. Today is the last day of January and it's nearly 70 degrees outside. I'm definitely going to miss these North Carolina winters, or lack thereof. But, we're ready, and I don't mean because Cameron bought me a shovel for Christmas. We are ready for the next chapter in our lives, a new adventure, and this time, as husband and wife.
My kitchen has seen a lot of action so far this year and I have a long list of DIY projects that I want to tackle. I've also been doing a lot of networking and soul-searching to figure out what I'd like to be doing once we get settled in Chicago. We are planning a few road trips for Spring Break and are hoping to explore more of NC (and possibly SC) while we're still residents. Of course the wedding planning is in full swing and I am trying to exercise regularly and eat well. Then there's all of the Duke events that we don't want to miss and friends that we want to spend time with before we scatter across the country (and world). All of this is fodder for future blog posts, so stay tuned...
Sounds like a good start to the New Year, your blogs are never boring and snowy winters will make it easier to blog... no great writer ever lived in a warm climate (this statement is not verified but I think it's most likely true)
