BDW is a box full of chocolates...

I can't believe that it's been over a year since Cameron and I visited Duke for Blue Devil Weekend (BDW). BDW is the open-house for admitted students. There is a slew of activities for the admitted students and the Partners Club hosts their own BDW for the husbands/wives, fiances/ees, girlfriends/boyfriends, children, etc. of the students. The memory of BDW 2010 brings up so many emotions - some of them familiar, some old, some new, but the flood of emotions is a bit of a surprise for me.

Last year BDW was the weekend that I made my final decision. Cameron had applied to Fuqua in the Early Admission round (if you get in, you must attend) in the fall of 2009. He knew by December that he had been accepted for the class of 2012. I, however, had not made up my mind as to whether or not I would join him. There was no ring on my finger, no NC job lined up, and my job in NYC was going really well. As anyone that knows me well can attest, it was a stressful, but exciting time in my life.

Fast forward a year and here I am! I got that ring, quit the job I had been at for 6 years, and followed the man I love to North Carolina to see what life had in store for me next. I can't say that I never looked back, especially around bonus season and as I was doing my taxes and compared my AGI from 2009 to 2010 (sad), but I am so happy I took the leap!

Duke, Fuqua, Durham, and North Carolina as a whole seem to have welcomed me with open arms. The people I met at BDW are some of my closest friends here, my position as the Communication Chair for the Fuqua Partners Club is fulfilling, and my job, well, do I even need to say how much I LOVE my job?

Making the decision to move to North Carolina was one of the bravest moments of my life. I can't wait to meet the new flock of Partners this weekend at Blue Devil Weekend and to be on the front-line to support and welcome them to Fuqua.

Speaking of the front-line. One my responsibilities was to get the Bulletin Board up to date. A big thank you to Katie for all of her help and to Ana-Maria for her support. Here's the before and after pictures.
